Super nice lady Really kind is attentive to your well being. Ask you to be respectful of the space, and is respectful towards you.

The hostess does not want me to visit her, and as a consequence I cannot complete the visit. The reason is that the date she left as available on the platform does not actually match the date she will have the room available. I have asked her to allow me to see the room anyway to consider moving in when it becomes available, but she has not responded to my messages again.

My homestay at Effie’s has been truly wonderful. Effie and her husband, Jimmy, make an excellent team when it comes to preparing meals and helping with anything we may need. They genuinely care about their students and often check in to ask what they can do or buy to make us feel at home — and they absolutely succeeded. I couldn’t imagine a better place to stay during my time in Toronto, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Also, Junior, their Beagle, is a sweet friendly dog, although sometimes a bit silly haha. I just love him <3 Effie’s home is located in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood, and I really enjoyed going for walks around the area. It is also very well connected by bus and subway (TTC) to downtown Toronto and to several malls across the city. I’d also recommend looking into the monthly TTC pass with the student discount — surprisingly, many people I spoke to didn’t know about it, and it can make commuting much more affordable. This homestay is a great place to benefit from it :)
