Hello. My name is Shannon. I am a veteran elementary school teacher of approximately 35 years and currently serve as an administrator in an elementary school. I have hosted international students, guest professors & medical residents for 10 years. I can offer a studious homestay environment with a positive family culture. 2 of my four children are in post secondary studies - one in Edmonton the other away; the two eldest are teachers - one in Alberta, one is teaching abroad. We are all busy and committed to our work and studies. Our modern, executive bungalow is located in a safe, mature neighbourhood 20 minute walk from the university, only 2 minutes from transit or 5 minutes from the LRT and mall. I offer furnished bedrooms with walk-in closets, large windows overlooking our spacious, landscaped yards. Shared full bathroom (with only one other person), games room, family great room, hot tub, large outdoor deck, landscaped yard, piano, shared kitchen, laundry, WIFI, cable TV, and groceries and shared cooking for 3 meals/day.

Efforts made to plan a meal gatherings together but with long study and work hours and differing schedules, meals are planned & perhaps prepared together, but no obligation to commit. Depending on everyone's schedules, we have a combination of cook for self, supper left to heat or gathering & sitting together for meals. I shop for groceries that students suggest/request (within reason for cost) for their preference. It's fun to prepare family meals together too.

    Respectful family culture (i.e. no sexual partner overnights); all of our house family member's safety is of paramount importance to me - I ask everyone to inform me of their general timelines for the day so everyone's safety is ensured. If safe, and in keeping with Alberta Health Care Services protocols for COVID school regulations, friends are most welcome to visit so long as there is adequate notice provided for the members of our home community.
