About Kate's family
Hosting in Vancouver since 2019

his location is excellent for a student who wants easy bus access to school, but who doesn’t want to live in the suburbs and enjoys a little of the city pace, bars, restaurants and amenities nearby. his is part homestay, part houseshare situation. We are in our 30s, creative professionals, we party but only outside the house. No drugs or session drinking in the house. You will probably find the pace here very quiet and slow. We go to bed early. We expect the house to be kept very clean. We are adults and want to live with kind, considerate people. We don’t have a TV. Not much will be expected of you other than that you clean up after yourself and be nice to the other living things (people, animals, plants) in the house. I am 35, I work full time in the film industry, I am quite active in the local regional Burning Man community, and I spend most of my time making costumes and art pieces for various burner events and parties that are coming up.

Meals

Breakfast
Host provides material, student prepares own breakfast
The fridge will always be stocked with eggs, cheese, fresh bread or gluten free bread, tea, soymilk. If the student prefers dairy milk I will buy up to one 2L carton per week. There will also be a variety of cereals (at least 4 kinds, including instant porridge). There will be basic fruits available (apples, oranges, bananas), some frozen berries. I will also have carrots on hand, rice that the student can cook themselves, and basics like garlic, oil, etc. There will also always be something green in the fridge- could be kale, spinach, or lettuce. If the student drinks coffee we can come to an arrangement. Anything else that is wished for for breakfast can be supplied with a simple request.

Lunch
Host provides material, student prepares own lunch
I will make sure there is always bread, cheese, lunch meat, and pickles available for lunches. Also there will be carrots and dip, and something green always in the fridge. I may occasionally cook dinner for myself and offer it to the student, but the student should expect to prepare their own dinner. I am available for help with menu planning, shopping, and occasional cooking and cleaning lessons. If student desires something different for lunch, that may be organised, but most likely they will need to purchase it themselves.

Dinner
No dinner provided
