About Lien's family
Hosting in North Vancouver since 2017

Our family lives in a 5 +bedroom house in North Vancouver. We are just a few blocks from the most charming Edgemont Village, library, brand new recreational center/fitness facility/swimming pool, and tennis courts. The bus stop is one block away from our house; one bus to downtown Vancouver, Lonsdale Quay, Grouse Mountain, or anywhere in Vancouver. I left my homeland (Vietnam) as a child so I know what it's like being new to a country. I lived and was educated in the United States for 12 years. Then I married my Persian husband and immigrated to Canada 20 years ago. My husband and I are in technology field. I work for Telus Corp. as a Business Systems Analyst. We work from home. We also have our 95 years old father living with us in one part of the house. We have a caregiver for him. Her name is Loren. She is helping with grandpa and the housework. There will always be an adult in the house. We have 2 children. Mina (18 years old) - She is attending the local film university. Sam (12 years old) - Grade 7- He is attending French Immersion school. We also have a little dog named Titi. She is 14 years old. She is old but very cute dog. Activities/Hobbies: We love spending time together as a family. We have huge networks of friends. We are very busy with life, packed with actions. There will not be a moment of boredom. Our family is into hiking and biking in the summer and skiing and snowboarding in the winter. We have Y2Play annual passes at Grouse Mountain. We go skiing every weekend in the winter. Occasionally, we travel to Whistler to ski. Our daughter, Mina, is always shooting movies or doing something relating to filming and photography. Our son, Sam, is into music, piano, singing, musical theater, and speech arts. Sam placed 3rd place in BC for speech art competition this year. Both Mina and Sam take singing lessons every week and perform at school concerts. Sam is very good in mathematics. Even though he is only 12, Sam is doing Grade 11 math. We have a math professor coming to our house every week solving math problems and proving math theories with Sam. A piano teacher also comes to our house on a weekly basis to teach Sam. Sam is also in soccer. During the school year, Sam would play soccer 4 days a week. Mina and Hamid (my husband) go workout at the gym every week. Hamid is also into swimming. As for myself, I have a passion for tennis. I belong to a few tennis clubs and play at least 3 times a week. Sometimes I enter completions around Vancouver and drag my family around to watch the games. Sam and Hamid recently got into tennis as well. We are taking lesson once a week and play at least 2-3 times a week. I also do yoga and meditate daily. We are always exploring new things. We love to do weekend travel to Whistler and day trip to new places. We are also active in the community and charity organizations. Our family is part of a non-profit foundation called Vietnam Education Society (VES). Together with our friends, we started this foundation 12 years ago and have built several schools in Vietnam. And we love to meet new people and make new friends. That is why we participate in this program. We are a busy family, but we always have time for each other. We spend a lot of time together. In the evenings when we are not at our various activities, we spend time watching a movie, doing chores and helping with homework and on weekends enjoy gardening. We celebrate all typical Canadian events, such as Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and Halloween; We also celebrate Lunar New Year late January and Persian New Year in the spring. Food: Our family is into eating healthy. We start our day with green juice grown from our garden. Mina and I are 80% vegetarians. Hamid and Sam are into meat. We eat wide ranges of food, Vietnamese, Persian, Filipino, Canadian, and other food. Our housekeeper is a good cook. She will experiment new food all the time. We cook on a daily basis. Our family also love takeout. Usually, we either order food or go out on Sunday. Typical Breakfast: Iranian breakfast (flat bread/feta cheese/walnut/mint), Cereal, toast, pancake, waffle, bagel and cream cheese, eggs, and bacon on the weekend. Typical Lunch: Leftover dinners, sandwiches, burritos, pizzas, chicken pot pie, soup, and more Typical Dinner: Fish, pork, beef, tofu, bean, rice, spaghetti, burgers, Noodle, Soup, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Persian, and more
