About Krist's family
Hosting in Surrey since 2017

My name is Joy, I'm a nurse and a college professor, but currently a stay home mom. Therefore, I am always available to assist the guest all the time. My husband, Marlon, works as an operational manager at a safety supply distribution company. My daughter is 2 years old, she is very energetic and friendly. While my newborn is just the sweetest thing as she sleeps through the night. I have 7 years of experience hosting female students from Korea, Japan, China and Mexico and I love it! Therefore, my husband and I would like to teach our daughters the importance of being diversed multiculturally and this is one of the reason why my family would like to open our home for homestay. I love to cook and bake; therefore, you will be well taken care of. I can pick-up in the airport for a small fee. My house is newly built last March 2017. I have 2 bedrooms to offer. The 2 guests can share with the bathroom. What is provided in 900/month for adult students and 1300/month for teenage students: -3 meals and snacks -private bedroom with twin bed, desk, nightstand, lamp, mirror and closet with hangers -shared bathroom with another guest -laundry -Wi-Fi internet -access to family's dining, living room and patio *If you prefer no meals it will be 600/month for adult students* Hope to hear from you soon! Can't wait to have you stay with us. :)

    House Rules

    BATHROOM
You will be sharing the bathroom and toilet with other students. Please help keep the bathroom clean so that its clean for the next person to use at all times. Please avoid flushing toilet paper down the toilet all the time and be mindful of mother nature. Definitely, make sure your feminine pads should be wrap and thrown out in the garbage bin and not in the toilet to avoid clogging and flooding our bathroom. Please respect necessity for water conservation. Turn the bathroom fan and light off when you have finished.

    WASHING YOUR CLOTHES
I will do the washing of clothes for everyone on Friday. Your clean laundry will be placed back in your bedroom, but you will be the one folding them. If you need to iron anything I will show you where the iron and ironing board are stored. Please do not hang your wet clothes inside your room for it is carpeted and we do not want molds growing. Like I said I will do the washing which includes drying your clothes. If clothes can’t be dry in the dryer then it can be hang in the bathroom.

    MEAL TIMES
The evening meal is a time that we all try to sit together and chat about the days events and it is one of the many family traditions that help to bond the family. If you are not going to be home for a meal telephone me or text my mobile before 3 pm. We usually eat between 6 and 7 pm. If you are going to be late for a meal let me know so that I can leave something for you if you want food save for you.

    YOUR BEDROOM
Your bedroom is your private sanctuary, and all family members and students are expected to respect the privacy of each other’s bedroom. The exception to this rule is the mother/big sister has the right to enter any room for safety or hygiene reasons. If you need to talk to another person and they are in their room knock on the door and wait for the person to answer. You must make your bed each morning when you wake up each day. Please keep your bedroom clean and tidy, this means find a place to put everything do not leave lots of things on your desk, the floor or your bed. No food or drink (water is okay and juices as long as they are in container/water bottle) to be taken into the bedroom. If you have food in the bedrooms, then ants will come in so please no food in the room. Please place your rubbish in the bins provided in the home. When you leave your bedroom switch your light and fan off.

    GENERAL RULES
-This is a non-smoking home, smoking is not allowed inside the house. Non-critical vaporizer with low fun is allowed.
-All lights are off after 11pm or 12midnight. Hallway lights will be available. If you are going to stay up late studying please turn off the light after you study.
-If you are given a key to the house door it is then your responsibility. If you lose the key you will be responsible for the cost of having the key replaced.
-Please do not use electrical appliances (toaster/iron etc) or cooking facilities without first checking with me, how they are to be used correctly. Again I will be cooking for all of us. -Paper do not use your outside shoes in the house. Use inside slippers only.
-If you will not come home and spending the night at a friend’s please do let me know in advance so that I will not be staying up late and wait.
-It will be nice to have an open communication so that we can avoid conflicts. My family is here to support you at all times.

*I understand that some of the rules may seem strange to you and that you will need time to adjust to them. Please come and speak to me of any worries or problems that I can help you with.*
