About Sandi's family
Hosting in Hamilton since 2019We are a busy, fun and social family of five! We enjoy getting to know each student that lives with us, their culture as well as exposing them to Canadian culture! We have been hosting international students for 8 years. Our family is active in a number of sports and outdoor recreation. We enjoy soccer, volleyball, hockey, skating, as well as hiking, swimming, camping and just being outdoors. We like to include our students in our family activities, but also respect their privacy and right to choose how active and involved they would like to be. We eat a large variety of healthy meals each week and are open to trying new recipes. We encourage students input in our meal planning so we know their food preferences. We live in a quiet & safe neighbourhood in the Hamilton West Mountain area. Very close walk to Mohawk College and Hillfield Strathallan. Also within walking distance to other schools, shopping, groceries, library, parks, and recreation centre. A short bus or bicycle ride to the downtown and to Limeridge mall. The upstairs kitchen, bathroom and living room is mainly for the family but is still considered a shared space. A finished basement provides more privacy for students and includes a bathroom, recreation/study area and private bedroom (with twin bed, desk, dresser, mirror and window). The backyard provides a chance to enjoy the outdoors on the patio and fairly large grass area.

We expect our students to have open and honest communication with us regarding curfew, food allergies/preferences, and whether or not they will be home for dinner. Cleaning up after themselves in the kitchen and keeping their room tidy is required. No smoking.
