    House rules will be included in the contract after booking
    Home Safety and Security
    Always lock doors when leaving the house.
    Close your window when leaving the house.
    Please provide me your cell phone number.
    Please be available by telephone in case of emergencies. Do not turn ringer off.
    Provide me with a copy of your government issued identification.
    Do not give your house key to anyone or make any copies.

    Care of the home:
    Absolutely, No Smoking in the house or the yard.
    Remove outdoor shoes in the house.
    Keep all personal items in your room.
    If you damage something, please let me know so that I may repair it.
    Do not put anything on the front hall table.

    Bathroom and Bedroom:
    Vacuum your room once each week.
    Do not attach pictures, poster etc to walls.
    No burning of candles.
    Please turn off bedroom lights when you leave the house.
    Please do not eat meals in your room. Remove any food waste and dishes promptly.
    Please turn on the fan in the bathroom when showering to prevent steam damage.
    Please leave bathroom door open, when you are not using it, to help with air circulation.
    Please turn off bathroom lights when you are not using the room.
    Flush toilet paper down the toilet (no floss, no garbage, no wipes, no paper towel, etc)
    Clean bathroom each week.

    Kitchen
    Clean any mess, that you make, in the kitchen immediately after eating .
    Pots and pans must be hand washed thoroughly. Soap will be provided.
    Large cutting knives, cutting boards and wooden spoons are hand washed.
    Rinse all dishes before putting them in the automatic dishwasher.
    I will be responsible for turning on the automatic dishwasher when needed.
    Use a cutting board for cutting food. Do not cut directly on the counter.
    Glass top stove - do not slide or shake pots across surface.
    Wipe whole stove top after cooking.
    I will replace kitchen washcloths and towels.
    Compost food and recycle paper, glass, plastic and tin, carefully and correctly.


    Heating and Cooling
    Do not change the thermostat.
    If this is not warm enough or cool enough, we will talk about it.
    A fan will be provided for you room.
    Please do not leave the fan on if you are not home.

    Laundry
    You may do your laundry in the evening any day Monday through Thursday (after 7:00 pm.) Or you may do laundry anytime on Sunday. I do my laundry on Friday and Saturday so the washer will not be available.
    Do not overload the washer or dryer.
    Please read the instructions on your soap. Too much soap can damage the machine.
    Use only HE ( High efficiency) soap in the clothes washer.
    You may hang clothes to dry in the basement during the winter, if you wish. (not in summer)
    Provide your own laundry soap and fabric softener.
    Remove the lint from the dryer after every use.
    Turn the dryer off if you leave the house. Never leave the dryer on if you are not home.

    Internet and Shared Common Room
    Internet is provided.
    Provide your own phone service or use internet phone services.
    Keep the shared common room tidy and do not leave any personal belongings there.
    Do not close the door to the shared common room as it provides access to the bathroom.

    Guests
    You may have guests once or twice a week. Please provide a few hours notice.
    No guests in the house unless I am home.
    No overnight guests.
    You are responsible for all the actions and behaviours of your guest.

    Courtesy and Care
    If you are going out after school, in the evening or on weekends, please tell me where you are going and an approximate time of when you will be coming home. Please return home at, or before, 8 p.m. on week days and 10 p.m. on weekends.
    Homeowner will provide assistance to tenant in new and unfamiliar and emergency situations.
    Homeowner will help tenant in becoming comfortable and familiar with the city.
    Homeowner will provide adult guidance and act as a community connection for the tenant.
    Please keep noise (music, computers etc.) to a minimum at all times, with no noise after 10 p.m.
    The legal drinking age in Ontario is 19, therefore, you will not consume alcohol while you are living in Ontario, in the home or yard.
    The legal age to smoke tobacco in Ontario is 19, therefore you will not smoke tobacco while you are living in Ontario,in the home or yard.
    You will not participate in any illegal activities, including the taking of illegal drugs.
    Please be available by telephone in case of emergencies. Do not turn ringer off.











    Cleaning of Home

    Inform homeowner of any problems with plumbing in bathroom

    Guardian Role - Student Rules
    Student will inform Guardian of any absences from school by 8:00 a.m.
    Student will inform Guardian of any difficulties with teachers.
    Student will inform Guardian of any illness.
    Student must ask permission before taking any oral medications.
    Student will take only medications with English details available on packaging.
    Student will make phone or text contact available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
